    1. Need Identity of One Samuel Williams, Madison Co., KY, 1840 (Harris guardian)
    2. Dear researchers, Is anyone able to help me establish the identity of one Samuel Williams of Madison Co., KY, who in 1840 and perhaps earlier was guardian to a couple of young daughters of the deceased Overton Harris (d. testate ca 1827) and his wife Nancy Oldham, dau. of Richard *Ready-Money* Oldham? Was Williams related? A possible connection: Nancy's deceased mother, the first wife of Richard R/M Oldham, was the former Ursley Duke Williams (the widow of Reuben Peoples, first husband). Ursley was the daughter, one of several, of Henry Williams and his wife Elizabeth of early Caswell Co., NC. She and Richard, along with many others of Caswell Co., NC, migrated soon after their marriage. On the other hand: the given name Samuel is not usual in this particular Williams family of Caswell Co., who had roots in colonial Virginia. From Madison Co., KY Court Order Book H-p 59 [August 10, 1840] [SL film 0183277] A settlement with Samuel Williams Guardian to Carlisle Harris Orphan of Overton Harris Decd was returned by the commissioners [of?] account and ordered lay over until next Court... exceptions or approval] [photocopy is dim] A settlement with Samuel Williams Guardian to Nancy Harris Orphan of Overton Harris Decd was returned by the Commissioners of accounts and ordered to lay over until next court for exceptions or approval. Hypothesis: It is suspected, but not proved satisfactorily, that Joseph Williams and Daniel Williams of early Madison Co., KY MAY have been brothers of Ursley. Daniel's presence is questionable, but there are records in Caswell Co., NC that indicate Joseph Williams had relocated to Madison Co., KY. E.W.Wallace gr-gr granddaughter of Carlisle Harris
