Some of my Moberly's/Moberley's left Madison Co in 1825-1840's for Missouri. I am told Moberly, Missouri was thus named. I have always assumed that it was part of the "westward movement". There also was a recruitment going on to get Missouri the inhabitants to qualify for statehood. Land was "high" and scarce in Ky. And Military service got one preference and Mo. land was cheap by comparison. And fertile.
