    1. [MADKY] Books On LIne at HeritageQuest
    2. If your local or county library system does not subscribe to HeritageQuest, get cozy with your local librarian ans ask: 1) Why doesn't this library subscribe? 2) If the library cannot afford the subscription fee, perhaps a nearby library can. Ask any librarian how you can pay an annual fee and obtain a card [with a number which will be your password, probably] from that nearby library. Some of my correspondents say they have been successful with another library, by paying an annual fee. 3) Does your State Library subscribe? Ask how you can get a card from your State Library. 4) How about a nearby University or community college library? Do they subscribe? Concerning Madison Co., Kentucky, there are allegedly over 161 hits, but I find the relevancy is sometimes not appropriate. However, Dorris' book is at the top of the list. Not to be overlooked on this list of books pertaining to Madison Co. [on HeritageQuest, that is]: The Boone Family which treats of not only the Boone family but allied families, some of whom lived in Madison Co., KY. Try some of the family names in your search, rather than Madison Co., and you may get more hits. Some of my families are listed; Stoner, Harris, Tribble, et al. And, of course, all those who married into the Boone family, of whom there must be hundreds!!! Also listed in this strange search: The Calendar of Virginia State Papers. There are all kinds of historical documents, including some pertaining to the settling and speculation surrounding Boonesborough. Be creative!!! I have a little trouble *turning pages* in some of the books. A trick I have tried, with some success: At the top of one of the pages is this prompt: Jump to page ...... [fill in the blank] It seems [I stress seems] to work better if I add a space after the number I type in. For example, I am interested in a VERY hefty book about Lunenburg Co., which book I can only skim when I am at my Family History Center. Now I am adding a space after the number, and it SEEMS to work. But, next time it may fail! I hope you can convince someone in your county or a nearby county that subscribing to HeritageQuest may gain that library some patronage!! E.W.Wallace **************Start the year off right.
