AAAAAAAmen!!! >From a grumpy old bat bone-weary of this nonsense. ----- Original Message ----- From: BStevens <brycestevens@comcast.net> To: vanarsdale@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 17 Jan 2008 17:58:16 -0500 (EST) Subject: {VanArsdale Genealogy} ADMINISTRATOR: mihnbu@aol.com has invited you to have a 3Davatar chat I am growing puzzled and a bit annoyed by this repeated posting, which somehow seems to be asking us to all share our research on some web-site and with some individual unknown to me. Charlene, it would help me if you would (1) explain who you are and , (2) tell me why you are so eager for us to share research on some site off of RootsWeb when practically everything we know or speculate about the family is available in the RootsWeb archives. The constant referral to "The Dorland Enigma Solved", by Barbara A. Barth, makes me wonder where your own research is at. The book is a noteworthy book, and a touchstone in the Dorland genealogy. It has a great deal of Van Arsdale information which is well presented. I suspect that most any Van Arsdale descendant will have family in the book that they are connected to. Thus, any veteran Van Arsdale researcher will have considerably more information that could be shared, but judging by the response to this query, the reaction has been about like my own. Exactly what is it you need, Charlene? A ready-made tree? Such a broad question or wholesale plea as you keep submitting is unlikely to get any response until a curmudgeon gets tired of seeing it repeatedly (that would be me). You would get a lot farther on this, or any other list, with specific questions about specific individuals. I can give details about ancestors and descendants of practically every Van Arsdale mentioned in the Barth book, with references of every caliber and quality. But I'm not about to (even if I were able) to put nearly fifty years of work into a message that would take weeks to compose and send it off to answer such a nebulous question/invite as you pose. I would like for the ADMINISTRATOR to step in, please, and explain protocal to Charlene. What is this venue she is asking everyone to donate their time and work to? What does it have to do with RootsWeb? Is this "Charlene" a legitimate member of the list, or is the list getting spammed?
