    3. Mary Alice, It is an assumption that Bowman was accurate with his papers. By not seeing them and when actually recorded (at the recruiting, or in much later recall?) I just do not know. The date, June, 1779 must have some substance for reliability. It could have been a muster roll? I know nothing about the Corn Compact. Petition No. 9 by inhabitants of Fort Boone to the General Assembly of Virginia relative to the Township of Boonesborough with petitioners listed 16 Oct. 1779 on the back of the lengthy petition, includes John South, Sr.; John South, Jr. and Thomas South.     3. Certificate Book of the Virginia Land Commission 1779-1780. Date: 28 Dec. 1779 at Bryants. John South Younger Heir at law to Thos. South Dec'd this day claimed a preemption of 1,000 Acres at the State price in the district of Kentucky lying on Stoner fork of licking Creek about 2 or 3 Miles from Harrods lick & about 2 miles above the Salt Spring trace including a Spring the bank of the Creek by the s'd Decedent's building a Cabbin in the year 1775.......etc. Is this Thos. South the same South discussed in our earlier postings? If so, was he really in Kentuckt as early as 1775? Interesting! GT
