(When some URL does not work for me, I look at it and try to figure where I can make a *cut*, and I am a rank amateur at the language of computers. But--computers are like genealogy--you have to figure out a way to try another method--or another source--or look at the original [generally a film for me] rather than a published abstract.) Sometimes a shorter URL will get you to a directory and then you can click away on various links. Rootsweb.com has a lot of directories and links, and I used to use CyndisList a good deal, but not for several years. Also, I have learned to manipulate google.com in this manner: [name of county] [name of state] + [the plus mark on your keyboard] genealogy I get some dandy links that way, but, occasionally I find the website is now dead.
