    3. Thanks, E.W. The James Anderson, deputy surveyor 1781-1786, is my GGGGGF. In the Madison Court Order books, he goes on to qualify for County Surveyor, and holds that position for many years. His surveyor's instruments are listed in the inventory of his personal estate after his death in 1831. I've wondered who has them now!!
