Bud, the first tax lists in District of KY were 1787 - at least, as far as I have found. The early originals microfilmed for the counties are available from LDS library. I do not know of any reliable transcripts online; if the scanned originals are anywhere, I don't know of it. These old tax lists are as or more helpful as a census - they are not just names, but much other info is included. The most interesting are the 1790s, which show the history of men's land among other things. I will check if Ancestry has any scanned tax records.
