Mary Alice, I do not want to complicate things but I believe some of my Cumberland / Granville County, NC ancestors migrated to Eastern Tennessee in the 1780-90 period. With DNA we are surprised at the number of different existing Anderson lines. The following might be of interest. I copied the Anderson information from a hand written ledger at the Hamilton County / Chattanooga Bicentennial Library about ten years ago. Paul North Carolina grants in Tennessee before Tennessee became a state. 1778-1791 Surname Anderson: John 1788 #822 99a Washington on water of big Limestone William 1784 #1239 200a Sullivan joining Peter McCall's line William 1784 #1265 250a Sullivan on North side of Holston John 1788 #1454 630a Sullivan on S. side of N. fork of Holston Benjamin 1787 #1969 600a Green on the roaring fork of Lick Creek James 1788 #2558 300a Hawkins on the medowfork of Big Creek William 1790 #2611 400a Hawkins on Caney Cr. Paul, as a member of the FTDNA Anderson Project, I know exactly what you mean!! We will talk privately about that. All those Anderson names in the the NC land grants, may easily be related to mine - except the Benjamin; none of those in my lines. Also, these are a little late to be my immediate Andersons, since we were already making land entries in KY in 1779, which became grants where they lived in Madison Co and Jessamine Co before the dates in NC. These could easily be sons of brothers of my Andersons. I know of an unidentified Anderson b.1812 TN who shares very close ydna with us, but which brother he came from is not yet pinpointed. We have an 8th-9th gen common ancestor in VA. Thanks for the info you post; I have not yet researched TN, since none of my line lived there.. Mary Alice
