    1. [MADKY] Where Did They Live?
    2. Someone asked, probably in passing, Where did they live [in Madison Co.]? Kentucky tax lists and deeds (at least on film) specify the watercourse on which most of the tracts of land were located. The Family History Library, as well as I am sure the Kentucky State Archives, and probably University libraries in Kentucky must have some of these films. (I use the FHL films because I do not live in Kentucky.) When trying to track persons who may have been neighbors (and who sooner or later may be relatives), I like to collect persons who lived along the same watercourse. This has helped me, at least in a colonial North Carolina county, differentiate two clusters of families with the same surnames. One was my direct line (my Dad's paternal lineage) and the other married into another family which was my Dad's grandmother's line, and hence his line. If you have not dipped into the filmed tax records of Kentucky, you may be missing some valuable information about your families I found in some of the later ones, tax lists, that is, at least for a Jackson Purchase county, that the taxpayer was asked how many children (I seem to remember school age children) he had. This probably helped the county and the State determine how much financial help the county was going to need. And this info helps us visualize the make-up of the family. The filmed deed indexes for Madison Co. have in the last column of the index, in many cases, the watercourse on which the land was located--unless the land was a city lot. So much to learn and so little time to read microfilm--because of pressing duties elsewhere! 3. Hit the wrong key. We seem to have the same source. You do know Nadonia and Hugh are siblings/ . I am also wanting to put the next generation down for Hugh and Margaret. If you have, can you tell me where Margaret is buried, and full death dates. Cousins who searched years ago(1940's) claim She and husband DAVID DALTON came to Missouri. Her name change is proved in the estate settlement papers after Elizabeth LEE Died(1836) here in Mo. but the Commissioners Deed is 1845 still listing her, Margaret, but none of these list the descendent heirs of living heirs. Nadonia married James LEE , Margaret's brother, and they came to Mo. about 1830 and got land in what became Henry County, Mo. Nadonia, also called Naomi had eight children and I have data on most of them for the next two descending generations if you are interested. Where do you stop in tracking Ninian Clody1734-1834? I am assuming you have all the data from the cited book. 2. OK. I also come from Coleman and Ellender Renfro through Turpin and Fanny Houk Haley. Their daughter, Serena Haley married J J Parsons and they had a daughter, Fanny who married John A Sigmon. Their daughter, Mahalia Jane Sigmon married Virgil Hunt. One of their sons was William Edward Hunt and he is my father. Now, John A Sigmon was the son of Barnett and Elizabeth Berry Sigmon. Barnett was the son of William and Mary Polly Sigmon Sigmon and Barnett had a sister, Manerva who married Robert Riddle. Looks as if you and I are cousins along the way! I am trying to find valid proof that Coleman Haley and Barnabas Haley are indeed father and son and have yet to find anything DAR will accept. Do you have any proof of what we know? 3. I have two microfilm reels of District Court land trials, which covers several counties - Fayette, Madison, etc., concerning trials starting about 1790 thru 1810. This is referred to as "The Complete Record Book", but is not "complete" for the whole state. I purchased these reels of film from the KY Library Archives in Frankfort. A couple of years ago, I ordered a LDS microfilm, "Depositions in Land Trials of Garrard Co", and if you check the catalog, perhaps there are films specifically for Madison trials. In the very early years, the entire Bluegrass area was "lumped" together when people made their land entries before the Land Commissioners, so when surveyed were divided generally only into the three original counties - Lincoln, Jefferson, Fayette..
