Those of you who have access to the online genealogical database HeritageQuest may be interested in reading about the Rodes family of Louisa Co., VA, of Albemarle Co., VA, and of Madison Co., KY. There is a little bit of history involved besides family history--about the Trustees of Boonesborough, for example. I will give below the title of the Book which has been digitized and is on HeritageQuest, available at many public libraries and some State libraries. I believe only public libraries can now subscribe. Some genealogical societies subscribed for a time, but I believe ProQuest withdrew their subscriptions. Ask your reference librarian where you can find a nearby public library which subscribes. If it is a *foreign* library, perhaps you can pay an annual fee for a card, which card's number probably will be your password. If you suspect that some of your early Kentucky ancestors may have lived in Louisa Co., VA [which was formed 1742 from Hanover Co., VA, a burned county], you may want to look over the index to these abstracts which appear online at _http://www.trevilians.com/jlaref/jlaindex.htm_ (http://www.trevilians.com/jlaref/jlaindex.htm) However, in order to see other abstracts of Louisa Co., cut off the phrases after the com/ in the URL. I do need to warn you, however, that abstracts of the earliest records of Louisa do not seem to appear on this database. I advise those seeking to find earlier abstracts of records to take a look at the website of Mrs. Rosalie Edith Davis. I have used her books for years and have found many clues to some of my people who were later in Madison Co., KY. Here is Mrs. Davis's URL. Her books are VERY inexpensive, considering how much most genealogical books cost these days. If you order them [or any of them] and find they do not contain material concerning your ancestors, I recommend donating them to a genealogical library or a society near your home. I don't know how long these self-published books will be available.
