One special note: If anyone is looking for a French-Canadian marriage in the United States in the 1800's and early 1900's you may fine them is a major film record found at the Salt Lake City Family History Library. This is a Quebec marriage listing that includes 80% on the French-Canadian marriages from the United States. (I’ve found many of my Massachusetts and Rhode Island French Canadian Catholic marriages). If you e-mail me with the names, possible place of marriage and about date I’ll give you the film numbers, etc. Here are the facts as given to me by Teddy Ronan on her Fall River ancestors: She was looking for Rose Lambert and Michael Ronan. She believed that the earlier Ronan family members (Michael’s parents) were from somewhere in Ireland (mentioned on 1820 & 1930 census. I know that Terry looked at the 1920 & 1930 census but wonder if she caught the fact that Michael & Rose married in 1911 but Michael Ronan states that he was married for the first time in 1907. (I assume the first wife died). Rose’s parents were Hormisdas & Caroline Lambert. Hormisdas was from Canada and Caroline from the state of New York. This is what I found: In 1888 Guide Canadien-Francais de Fall River 974.485/F1 F24g lists the following Lamberts in Fall River: Hormisdas-Commis. St. Gabriel Adelard-Commis pen: pensionne Alexina-tisserande pen: pensionne Marie-tisserande pen: pensionne All at residence 6 Ashton in Fall River (tisserande means textile weaver) (unsure of the meaning of pensionne-may mean on a pension or invalid for a pension) (St. Gabriel is in Quebec) In the 1905 City Directory: Hormisdas Lambert-insurance agent office at 44 Borden Hormisdas Jr.-driver-boards Joseph-spinner-boards All of above lived at 41 Ashton James Ronan-fireman-boards-106 Bedford Mary-domestic at 669 Roch Michael-bleacher-house-165 Haffard Michael-deck hand-boards-516 Ferry Michael-freight handler-N.Y, N.H. & H. R.R.-house 3 Palmer William-deck hand-house-516 Ferry N.Y., N.H. & H.R.R. means New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Hormisdas Lambert and Caroline Ethier had a son Joseph who married Blanche Morin on 1 July 1913 in St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church in Fall River. The witnesses to the marriage were Hormisdas Lambert and Charles Morin. Known children for Hormisdas & Caroline were: Joseph, Hector, Hormidas, Celina, Marie, Julia, Alfred & Rose I found the birth of Caroline as being on 4 July 1858 in Redford, Clinton County, New York (Clinton County borders Canada) with parents Henri Ethier & Mary Anderson. Her sponsors were Mose Robidoux & Jeanette Anderson (husband & wife). Mary Anderson’s parents were Dominic Anderson & Rose Lebert. She was born in 1828 in Redford and died 28 March 1896 in Redford, Clinton, New York. Caroline had a brother Edward born 5 July 1862. Sponsors were Xavier Gobriaut & Jeannette Anderson. Henri Ethier’s parents: a. Francois Ethier & Charlotte (married 9 Jun 1817). Henri Ethier was born on 8 February 1822 in Repentigny, Quebec, died 25 June 1905 in Redford, Clinton, New York. a. Francois’ parents: b. Francois Ethier (born 31 October 1759) & Marguerite Beaudon (married 5 July 1785 in L’Assomption, Quebec). b. Francois’ parents: Paul Ethier & Angelique Charbonneau.(married 1753) Paul’s parents: Joseph Ethier & Angelique Labelle (married 28 November 1713) Joseph’s parents: Leonard Ethier & Elisabeth Godillon (married 22 September 1670) Leonard’s parents: Etienne Ethier & Marguerite Sabelee of St. Martial de Manot, diosese of Limoges, Limousin in France. Elizabeth Godillon’s parents: Nicolas Godillon & Marie Boulay of Notre Dame des Aides de Blois, diosese of Chartres, Beauce, France. Also: James (Jean) Ethier (brother of Caroline) and his wife Virginie Renaud had a daughter Rose A.
