The following is the obituary as it appeared in the Fall River Herald News on September 25, 1928: Valentine Whalen "Valentine Whalen, a resident of this city nearly all his life, died last night at his home, 184 Union Street, after an illness of several months. Mr. Whalen was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Whalen. He was for a number of years in the employ of the American Printing Company and was held in high regard by his friends in the community. He was a member of Fall River aerie (?) of Eagles. Two sisters, Miss Mary and Miss Johanna Whalen, survive him. The funeral services will be held Friday morning at St. Mary's Cathedral of which parish Mr. Whalen had long been a member."
