My grandfather as well as my husbands grandfather are from that area. Although I do not know how long or how far back it goes. My grandfather is Edward Francis Souza. The only thing that I know is that he had at least 1 brother. His mother's name was Edna. I believe that she remarried after my great grandfather and her last name then became Silve. As far as my husband is concerned his grandfather's name would be Joaquin santos. He was married to a Loretta Maderios (Santos)/ But I do believe that most of these people are from Portugal but I do not know enough information. Anything would help. Thanks..Denice Tried looking at the index for all of MA, and there was no Edward Souza at all. There also was no Joaquin Santos with a wife Loretta. Since the index gives only head of household, if they weren't head of household in 1910, they won't be in the index. There were just too many Santos and Souza names to check each for the possibility that Joaquin or Edward was listed - plus I wouldn't know how to identify them without ages and other names from the family.
