Okay, I'm guilty. I've read messages on tis topic and never paid much attention to them. But now I really do need to find some wills and need answers. First off, these are all wills that may or may not exist. They are all by widowed women. One died in New Bedford in 1907, the other two died in Westport in 1855 and 1886. Where should I look to see if any wills existed? Who should I contact? Thanks, Karen Flanders Eddy in CT
These wills or administrations should be at Taunton. However, some Bristol County probate material has been moved to the Mass. Archives at Columbia Point, so you should check. Strangely, they have kept the earlier original material in Taunton at the Probate Registry there, and sent the later stuff to Boston! I don't know what the cut-off date is and would be interested if anybody does know. I don't think New Bedford has probate -- they have a deeds registry though.
