Dear Beara Folk, Recently in researching a Beara man, John Toomey from Allihies, I came across his wife's family. I have checked the Allihies, and the Bere Island books [they only two I have] and come up with no match. I am not sure the people are from the Beara, or some other place in Ireland, but perhaps one of you might know. Because I can find no marriage record for Mary and John Toomey in Massachusetts, I am willing to believe they married in Ireland before their first child was born here in Massachusetts in 1855.
