The 1900 CENSUS says they have been married 42 years and that they have been in the US for 45 yrs. So we should be looking for a marriage around 1858. It also says daughter Etta was born in RI, so don't discount how close RI and MA are when looking for the marriage. If you haven't seen the 1900, I can send it to you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "K E" <kenofnocal@yahoo.com> To: <MABRISTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2007 7:00 PM Subject: [MABRISTO] need 19th cent MA NEHGS lookup; can do ancestry.com lookup > Greetings, > > I'm wondering if someone might have a subscription to > NEHGS and could do a lookup in 19th century > Massachusetts vital records (after 1850). > Specifically, I'm trying to find out if there is a > marriage record from the 1850s (most likely the second > half of the decade) for a Martin King and Martha > Redmond (or Mary Martha Redmond, or Martha > something-else). > > For some time I have proceeded under the assumption > that my 3rd great-grandfather (who was born in Pugwash > NS about 1834-35) married his wife Martha (whose > maiden name we believed to be Redmond, and her father > Irish Protestant immigrant Andrew Redmond) in Nova > Scotia and had come to Bristol County Mass (Attleboro > or North Attleboro) in the later 1850s.
