Are marriages index by surname? Or do you have to look it up year by year? Looking for a marriage for a Mattie Brown who married a Leonard Lane (born abt. 1861) about 1884, maybe in MA or RI. Mattie (1864-1909) is the daughter of Zenas Brown and Ann E. Helme. Mattie was born in Seeknonk but had extended family in the city of Providence.
