The LANCSGEN list is comprised of extremely knowledgeable and extremely helpful people. The only thing to warn you about is that the volume of messages is usually very high. For that reason, some folks find that the digest version works well. That would be [email protected] My ancestors, too, came over from Ashton-under-Lyne (now part of Manchester), England. My first small group came over in 1873 and the second in 1887. Although they settled mainly in the Pawtucket, RI area, the branch of the family from whom I descend did eventually make their way to Fall River and settled there.
