Hopefully someone can help me with a brick wall I have had for years. Here is what I know of my ancestor: John Burke b. ca 1791, Ireland Married Abby Perry February 8, 1823 in New Bedford, Ma d. May 13, 1871, New Bedford, Ma John was a gardner by trade and worked for John Avery Parker, first millionaire and richest man in New Bedford, Ma. at the time John worked for him. John and his wife were the parents of the following: John Jr., Thomas, Elizabeth Farrington, Sarah A., Abby J., Baby Boy, William and Lucy. William Lucy and the baby boy all died young or at birth. Elizabeth Farrington Burke married Amos Foster Lovejoy. They were my 3rd great grandparents. I would love to know where in Ireland John came from or if someone can tell me if there was a newspaper that might have had an obituary at the time of his death in 1871. Thanks for any help.
