    1. [MABRISTO] City Directories from Ancestry
    2. Hello Fellow Genealogists,] I am having fun with a new CD from Ancestry.com called City Directories: Massachusetts 1885-1897. Fall River is among 94 localities (but not Westport to my disappointment) that is on it. You can search for someone by age, business name and address, street address, occupation, and family member names. So far I have found some of my Shea ancestors in 1890, especially valuable since the census is not available for that year. It was recently offered for sale by Ancestry for about $14 if anyone is interested. I also had a recent bit of shock in that I had sent a check to the Mass Registry of Vital Statistics, Mt Vernon Street in Dorchester, asking for two death records ($11. each) . They could not find the records, and did not return the check, either. At the same time I sent a check to the Mass Archives for different records, also not found, but they returned my check. This is the first (of many queries I've sent by mail) time that my check was not returned when records were not located. Live and learn, I guess! Joan

    3. Unfortunately, you're paying for the *search*. You'll find that's the way it is most places.
