I know that I went to Blackstone MA and the record was in their library and then it turned out the actual event had occurred in Rhode Island so even though they could see the record in the index from the library of Blackstone MA they could not give me anything as far as a copy because it was the jurisdiction of Rhode Island . So if I had sent a letter I would have received nothing. Seeing it in the library index gave me a further hint. I don't think they would have (or might not have ) sent me the indication of the index listing because it was technically not their jurisdiction. IN Blackstone ithe library is in the bottom floor and the registrars office on the next floor up so I didn't lose a lot of time. as you say, live and learn??? Hopeful in the pursuit... Jean
