hello all i have been looking for my greatgrandmother. her name is a little confusing. i'll start with her birth name MARY LOUISE LAVRIVERE- BORN NAME MARY LOUISE WATTERS- I GUESS ADOPTED NAME MARY RYDER- HER FIRST HUSBAND- JOSHUA RYDER on some of the paper work i have her name also say's LOUISE RYDER. now MARY married again after joshua died. she was pregant at that time with my grandfather. she married WILLIAM EDWARD MCMANUS/ don't know when they married, but my grandfather was born 1903. now as for the question i have. MARY is buried over at a place called ST. JOHN'S CEMETERY. i have tried calling that place but always get a recording. so i was wondering if some nice person could do a look up for me. MARY either died in 1928 or 1968. can't read the writing on the wall.lol. but i know she is over there, not sure if WILLIAM is over there. my cousin said once upon a time there was a wooden cross only with her name on it. it only said MARY MCMANUS. and she is by a tree. not alot to go on, but i really do need some help. she has seemed to be a very confusing lady. i do have a picture of MARY. every one of my family say's i look just like her. so i'd like to learn more about her. she was french-canadian. so any help would be sooooo appreciated. thank you diana e [email protected]

Hi Diana, I have no information on your line but can help you with the name. Your grgrandmother's name would have been MARIE LOUISE LARIVIERE. The word Lariviere translates to "the river" in English. French Canadian names were routinely translated or changed phonetically when ancestors migrated to the US. Lariviere was associated with a body of water therefore became Water/Waters. Do you happen to have her parents' names from her marriage entries? Could help in Quebec research. Regards, Andree Florida
