    3. Hello, One of the families I am researching is a MOURA family, of which not much is known. The basic set-up of the family appears to be: Francisco "Tony" MOURA, father, b1870?, prob. St. Michael's, Azores Philomena "Mena" (ROSE), mother, b1879?, prob. St. Michael's, Azores Albertina? "Elsie" MOURA, daughter, b.4/6/1892, St. Michael's, Azores Rosalina "Rose" MOURA, daughter, b1898, Azores or USA?? Francisco MOURA, son, b1901, Azores or USA?? Carolina "Carrie" MOURA, daughter, b1903, Azores or USA?? Manuel "Manny" MOURA, son, b1905?, Azores or USA?? (Note: The father, "Tony" MOURA, was reportedly a Mariner, and possibly worked on a Whaling Ship. I am wondering if he brought his family to New York City around 1895-1897. This transition might have been the reason why there were no children born between 1892 and 1898.) (I do not yet know whether there were other children. Possibilities include: Maria MOURA, b1900, and Anna MOURA, b1901.) Mrs. "Elsie" PACHECO told her grandchildren that she had come directly to the USA at Age 12 (in 1901) to work as an indentured servant, and it was assumed that she had come directly to MA. Last month it came to my attention that this family might have spent the years around 1895 to 1901 in Brooklyn, NY. "Elsie" MOURA married Antonio "Tony" PACHECO in either 1912 or 1913 in MA. They lived their married life in Cambridge, MA. Sometime after this marriage, Elsie's mother, Mrs. Philomena MOURA, also lived in Cambridge. (It is possible that she was widowed while living in Brooklyn, NY. Her husband was probably alive in Brooklyn in 1905 to 1910, so possibly she moved up to Cambridge around 1910-1915.) They probably had family still living in Brooklyn, NY, as that is where their son, "Manny" MOURA, lived his married life. I just went to the LDS site, and found a Francisco MOURA mentioned who was born in 1901, in USA, and who died in New Bedford, MA, in 1977. We do not have any information on Francisco, and do not know whether he went by "Frank" MOURA or "Tony" MOURA Does anyone in the New Bedford area know about him? "Rose" MOURA married a Mr. PERRY (Pereira??), and they lived their married life in Cambridge, MA. And, "Carrie" MOURA married a Mr. MEDEIROS, and they lived their married life in Cambridge, MA. They reportedly had a brother who moved to California. But, I haven't figured that out yet. One possibility is that Francisco MOURA did go to CA but returned to MA. I would like to hear from anyone who has these families on their family tree. Have a good evening, Betty (near Lowell, MA) "There are two lasting bequests we can give our children; one is roots, the other is wings." Hodding Carter, Jr.
