Hi Eleanor, I dropped off your inquiry to the daughter of Elizabeth Olney Wescott she and her father are very interested in this and she said she will contact you. Growing up in the neighborhood I remember Harold, his house and an ancient house beside it. probably William's. If you are ever in the area drop in I've lived in the same house now 50 years. well I got my handle from driving and dancing. German folk dance and school bus! Good Luck DAN ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
>From the SSDI I find Roger A. Motta, born 6 Nov. 1924 and died 16 Dec 1999. Last residence was Swansea, Bristol, MA. I am trying to determine if this Roger A. Motta was the son of Manuel R. and Mary Motta. In 1930 there is a Manuel R. and Mary Motta, with a son Roger age 5, living in Providence. Is this the same Roger who died in 1999? I would like to communicate with anyone from the Roger Motta family. In 1920 Manuel and Mary Motta have a daughter Emily, age 8 years old, living in the household. I think this Emily married James Sloan Hopkins and is living in New York in 1930. Emily and James Sloan Hopkins had a son named James Jr., and I am trying to locate James Jr. and/or his family. James Sloan and Emily Hopkins are buried in a National Cemetery in New York. James Sloan Hopkins Sr. was born in Clark County, Arkansas. James Sloan Hopkins, Jr. may have never known any of his Arkansas cousins. Can someone help me locate James Sloan Hopkins Jr.? I believe he is the grandson of Manuel R. and Mary Motta and a nephew of Roger Motta. Thanks for any help. You guys are great on this list. There are 7 members of this family I am working on right now. Some I have completed. I still have a couple more to work out, so I may be asking for help again. Thanks again to those who helped me. Thanks again Eleanor (Olney) Souza ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
I am so sorry. I looked up the parents for Agnes, not Dorilla. Sorry for my haste in writing. Hi Elaine, John J, Daigneault is not the right family. The one with Dorila Menard is the right one, Dorilla was born in Taunton in January 23, 1910. Probably married around 1930 with Camille Daigneault I know of two girls for them they were on my parent's wedding picture: Renee and Micheline both married in St-Philippe-de-Laprairie on July 24, 1954, Micheline to Jean-Paul Hebert and Renee to Jean-Guy Dupuis. I found the father's name from their marriage in "Your folks" site. Thank you for your help, Have a good day, Agnes ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2007 20:59:59 -0700 From: "E. Don't know if these are related or not but I also found in 1930 census Marlborough, Middlesex Co. MA, District 299 213 Elm Street. John J. Daigneault wife Dorilla D. dau. Jeanette L. dau. Estelle M. Roy Nazaire father in law I found Daignault (sp) living in Taunton in 1930 census: George, wife Annie, ch: George, Henry, Donald. If you go to www.familysearch.org and put in Camille Daigneault 3 or 4 come up with parents listed on some. Do you have any idea of his age? There is also listed Dorila (sp) Menard b. abt. 1900 with parents Ismael Menard and Rose Anna Dion and spouse Camil Daigneault. Is this where you got your info from? It gives the name and address of the person in Canada doing the research. Also found a Dorilla Menard b. Oct. 1891 Taunton MA but parents listed are Dosithe Menard and Adelina Marotte. Elaine
Why don't you contact the mail library in the Swansea area and ask them for a copy of the obituary for Roger. You can sometimes do this online googling "ask a librarian Swansea." It might list the names you are looking for. If possible, please donate a small sum to the library for their services - our libraries today really need all the help they can get. Elaine
Agnes, There is this family in the 1911 Quebec, Laprarie and Napierville, Sub-District 11 Paroisse de St. Philippe, Canada census. Joseph Daignault (sp), b. Dec. 1863, wife Melina b. b. Agnes, there are quite a few records under the surname Menard in Taunton, but you don't give any idea of dates, perhaps a date range of 20 years or so would help. And, pardon my ignorance in French names but, which is the groom and which the bride? I'll be happy to check the vital records for MA for you.
