Seeing your recent posting reminded me that I wanted to advise you of my e-mail address change. You recently sent me a note at [email protected] but that address is about to expire. Please update your address book to post to [email protected] As for your quest stated above, have you been to the Massachusetts Archives at 220 Morrisey Blvd. in Dorchester? This may not be new news to you but if you have not gone there it is a great resource. I was there again this past July when my family all got together for a week on Cape Cod and I stayed over an extra day just to do research. I found out a number of years ago that dealing with the folks at city hall (New Bedford, Fall River, etc.) can be useful and they are frequently of great assistance - but - all the city data is posted at the state level and often you can find something there that wasn't found at city hall. Things like mis-spellings, use of nicknames, etc. throw them off when you will know you are looking at the right record when you see it. I had a number of cases in Fall rive where their response was "no record found" but I located them once I went to the Archives. The births, marriages and deaths from 1841 through 1910 are indexed in large ledger sized books, each book dealing with a part of the alphabet, and for a five year span. It is really simple to look up someone in these books and then go directly to the microfilm cabinet a few feet away to look up the actual record. As I said, maybe you have done this but if not, I really recommend doing it. A day there is worth a month trying other means. If you need directions to get there (by car or MTA) let me know. Cheers - Dick ******************************************************* Richard J. Looking for any information on Arch E. Pope and family. He married Mary Dolan and they had 3 sons in Fall River, Mass area. Arch E. Pope Jr. born 1913, Caryl Tolin Pope born 1 Nov 1914 in Fall River, Mass and Russell howard Pope born 12 Sep 1917 in Fall River. They moved to Denver, Co shortly after that and had Keneth Pope and Jean Pope Harmon Martinez. Would like any info on any of they and their families. At a brick wall. If anyone can do a census check or city directory lookup that would be deeply appreciated. Arch Pope Sr was a doctor. Thank you for your time and efforts. Sandy

Dear Beara Folk, Recently in researching a Beara man, John Toomey from Allihies, I came across his wife's family. I have checked the Allihies, and the Bere Island books [they only two I have] and come up with no match. I am not sure the people are from the Beara, or some other place in Ireland, but perhaps one of you might know. Because I can find no marriage record for Mary and John Toomey in Massachusetts, I am willing to believe they married in Ireland before their first child was born here in Massachusetts in 1855. I just place a file on line listing the early settlers of Rehoboth, Bristol Co., MA, extracted from Our County & Its People, A Descriptive & Biographical Record of Bristol County, Massachusetts by Alanson Borden, 1899, Pages 13 - 19. I found several of my ancestors among the settlers [BOWEN, BULLOCK, DOGGETT, FULLER, HOLBROOK, & INGRAHAM]. I hope everyone is as fortunate. Hello all, I am looking for information on the marriage and ancestry of Robert Tucker and Mehitabel Hunt, married before 1700 in the Taunton, Norton, Rehoboth area. Normal channels (town and church records) have been able to provide nothing to this point. I hope that someone out there, might have some information or may be related to this couple themselves. All responses will be greatly appreciated, Kevin Nunes in Taunton, Massachusetts
