(2) Where might I find a roster of the members of the Berkshire militia and their enlistment dates, particularly those who enlisted prior to 1776? Hello Brian: I have been following your compilations of the Berkshire Militia in all the issues of the Berkshire Genealogist since it started in the Winter issue of 2008. I was hoping to find my Eseck Brown from Cheshire, but no luck. Maybe he was a Quaker. Thank you for submitting these to the magazine. At Fort Ticonderoga, do they not have a list of all the militia participants in that battle?.... Also, have you checked the William Bradford Browne file at the Berkshire Athenaeum? This is a large file, full of his hand-written records, covering Berkshire County pre- and during the Revolutionary War (and afterwards). William B. Browne is a descendant of the prominent Brown family in that area. I believe he was the registrar of deeds, and devoted much of his time in the years 1910 - 1950s to early Brown family research. In addition, the National Archives Rev. War records has lists and lists of participants, on microfilm. Many from Berkshire County units. I looked through these years ago. Nancy Sicotte
