Most of the Irish coming then were poorly educated and the clerks were unfamiliar with the Irish accents. The only entry listed in the index that could be a match is the one for John Henry McArty. With the work I've done on the database and my own Irish research, that rendering of McCarty is not a surprise. The daughters may not have been registered with the civil authorities. The Irish Catholics were very suspicious of civil authorites. They didn't start registering Catholic births in Ireland until 1864 and the Catholics brought that attitude with them to America. I might suggest you request the baptismal papers for John Henry and see which church he was baptised in. The nearest current Catholic Church is Saint Agnes in Dalton. I might suggest you ask there. They should know where their and, if there was a CC in Windsor, where those church records are located. ST.
