I am not related to Mrs. Snead, nor do I have any more information. I am posting the obit for interested researchers. ***** Joan May Snead Mrs. Joan May Snead, 92, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at her home after a sudden illness. She was a native of Windsor, Mass., and was born on Nov. 28, 1916, to Edmund Woodcock and Ethel Patterson Woodcock in Windsor. With both parents deceased, she moved to New York City at an early age, and worked as a caretaker for the elderly and disabled. She then moved to Moultire, Ga., in 1938. She later moved to Sneads, where she remained the rest of her life. She was retired from Florida State Hospital. She joined the First Baptist Church in Sneads in 1952 and was a faithful member until, in her later years, she attended El Bethel Assembly of God Church until she was home-bound. She was a faithful and loving caretaker to her husband, Walter Snead, for more than 11 years prior to his death. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her daughter and grandchildren, faithful and giving to all her friends, nieces and nephews. She always had a kind word for everyon! e she knew or met. Survivors include her daughter, Margo DeVane and husband James, of Sneads; grandchildren Monica Fitzsimmons and husband Talmadge, and Homer Hathcock and wife Cyndy, all of Sneads; and four great-grandchildren, Nikki Howell Dickens, Clay Howell, and Mason and Jackson Hathcock. She also loved her two great-great-granddaughters, Kylee Howell and Bella Dickens, and a special grand-nephew, William Nelson, as well as a host of nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Visitation with the family will take place Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. CST at the Lanier-Andler Funeral Home in Sneads. Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 13, 2 p.m. CST at the First Baptist Church in Sneads, with Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Graveside committal services will be at Dykes Cemetery in Jackson County.
