Greetings Berkshire Listers, I'm wondering if you would take a look at a couple of town of Hadley entries on the NEHGS Mass VR 1841-1910 on-line database. The first is Provos, Florence Town Hadley 1862 vol 157 pg 63 1/2 Death . If you call up pg 63, you won't see it, because of the half, but you can view it by her name, or name and volume easily. The image is of page 64 with a piece of paper with a Return of Death. My first question is about the Return of Death, because it seems strange to see the entry in French. I've repaired the town as it was listed as NorthHadley (sic), which wouldn't show up in a query for Hadley entries. My second question is about the 11th entry on vol 157 pg 64 Hadley deaths. Deciphering handwriting is definitely not my strong suit and I'm unsure of the first name and think the last name is Huntman, but can't find it on the original index. This is a 51 year old married male. Any guess to either his first name or last name, so I can find it and repair it? Appreciate the assistance and a wonderful New Year to all. Sue Richart

Sue< It must be Theopoulos P Huntington. He shows up in Hadley in the 1860 census. The only thing I can figure out with Florence is that her family might have travelled to Quebec and she was born and died there and her body was returned to Hadley? In any event, Florence Provos was 3 days old when she died on 26 Jan 1862, her father was Joseph Provos, mother Angelique Picost. Happy New Year to you and to all the Berkshire searchers.
