Marilyn, just a quick note about those ancestors who were Town Clerks. One was Ralph Houghton, Clerk of Lancaster, MA from 1656-1686 and the other was Shadrack Wilbore, Clerk of Taunton, MA for 35 years. More to follow, and thanks again. It is a beautiful church and a beautiful cemetery. Who were your ancestors that were clerks in Lenox? Mine were Joseph Tucker (early 1800s); Wm Tucker (abt 1830); his brother George Joseph Tucker (same time frame). George's son also played that role. George Henry Tucker (?) Were the librarians able to help you with the two sets of records that I know that they have??? Agreed -- CO is utterly beautiful!!!!! I had no problem in Aspen/Snowmass (skiied all the time; ran 6 miles 4-6 times/week), but when moved to the city, was coughing for hours a day and was quite ill. Had to move back to Maine to my parents, for them to care for me, as I thought I was dying. But, was well again w/in 3 weeks. I cried my eyes out all the way in the car from Denver to the NE line. I so hated to move! There is an unpublished history of Lenox by George Tucker. It was to be published and was in the final markup phase before he died. It is available from the library. (Or perhaps town hall) You may want to purchase a copy. I recall it was $15. Lots of good, historical information about the town. I miss CO. Intend to go to a "old geezers" event in Snowmass next month. Not that I'm a day older than 29 and counting, mind you! We had quite a time there in the early 80s. No fear, it's a wonder we all survived (well not all did). A wild place and a wild time.
