    2. Edmund Towne served in Capt Samuel Clark's company in the 2nd Berkshire Militia Regiment from June 30- July 21, 1777. He marched to Fort Ann, NY at the request of General Philip Schuyler. In Kingsbury, NY, he apparently switched to Capt Zebulon Norten's company in the 1st Berkshire Militia on July 27, 1777 and was discharged 70 miles from home on August 14, 1777. He may have been at Stillwater, NY when discharged. There may be other instances when he served in the Berkshire Militia. These will be listed In Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the Revolutionary War.
