"I'd like to go the the Courthouse in Pittsfield to copy deeds. Does anyone know how much copies are?" ---Probably 50 cents a sheet. Another alternative you have is renting microfilm from Salt Lake City, if you have an FHL or library with borrowing privileges near you. They have the Berkshire land records up to 1925 on microfilm. Thanks for giving me an estimate of the cost. I happen to have a fuel-efficient Honda Civic and live within an hour of Pittsfield. I'd rather go there in person. We fight indifference through education; we diminish it through compassion. The most efficient remedy? Memory. To remember means to recognize a time other than the present; to remember means to acknowledge the possibility of a dialogue... The memory of an ancient joy or defeat is proof that nothing is definitive, nor is it irrevocable. To live through a catastrophe is bad; to forget it is worse. Elie Wiesel.
