    1. deed from Stockbridge Indians to John Halenbeck et al

    3. I assume this is the deed being discussed. It can be found at the Great Barrington Town Hall, Book1, pg 85. There are numerous receivers of the land including my interest, the Brasees. The description reads thus .....one certain Large Tract of Land situate and being within the County aforesaid bounding south on the south bound Line of the said Province North on a Line drawn paralel to said Line seven Miles distant from said province Line which is on the Township sold to Robert Noble and others in part, East on the Great Mountain called Taconock Mountain (that is the steep Mountain) West on a line to be drawn paralel to Hudsons River at twelve miles distant from said River (which said tract of Land is supposed to be from East to West in Length about Eight Miles) exclusive of any legal Conveyances that have been given by any of our Indian ancestors. I have assumed that this was Mt. Washington. At the Sheffield Historical Center I had a map xeroxed that showed the parcels of land (with the Brazees getting a very small parcel, and the van Gilders lots). I can't put my hands on the map at the moment, but I think it was of the early settlement of the Egremonts. Anybody know anything about the Brazees please holler., And I've always been curious which Benjamin Franklin and son was involved in this deed. Certainly not the famous one. Phyllis
