You don't need a password just for a search, only to reserve a book. Have you ever been in the history room? There are hundreds of books and a vault also. Try various search terms. I don't know if you try local history it will bring up every or not. Probably not. I don't recall the code for the vault. If I can find out, I'll let you know. I know next to nothing about Clarksburg and would like to research it myself ( if only there were time) to find Corrine Bourdon and an Appleton family.
