    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Cooney, McNamara Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UFB.2ACI/3748 Message Board Post: Please help me identify or learn more about this photo! I have an old photo of one of my ancestors that has been passed down to me. I believe he was a Cooney from North Adams, Berkshire, Massachusetts. I guess this would be from between 1870-1900. He stands in some sort of uniform holding maybe a bayonett but it doenst really look like a weapon. There is a fake backdrop. And it has the name of the photographer, north adams, mass. I am looking for clues or hep identifiying his outfit here and who he may have been. What this photo was for? It is made of what seems to me to be some sort of cardboard like material. Thanks in advance for any help. I tried to attach the photo but not sure if worked so I have put the photo online at the following link: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v693/e_dawg/NorthAdamsuniformedman.jpg

    3. He is wearing a cut away formal coat over pin strip pants, not a typical uniform, the belt looks like some thing worn by a band, the rifle look old, but real and side arms look like a small sword. He may have been in the Civil War and was in the GAR. Just some thoughts. Nancy
