This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Derry, Haskell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UFB.2ACI/3724 Message Board Post: I understand from Ancestry.com/Library Edition: Massachusetts Town Death Records that a Windsor, Massachusetts, record says that Polly Derry, one of my ancestors, was buried there on 11 August 1814 after dying because of a fever. Can anyone give me any more information about this? Thank you.
I checked the NEHGS' website and found this: 1814 DERRY (see Dary), Polly, w. Peter, Aug. 11, 1814. [Dary, fever, C.R.] Death Windsor "w. Peter" means wife of Peter, and C.R. means that this entry was based on a cemetery record. Note the alternate spelling of the last name (Dary). I would contact the Town Clerk's office in Windsor and see about getting a photocopy of the record (and perhaps a death record, too if one exists). Hope this helps!
