This Mary is too old and I believe she is the one who died in Adams in 1870. I do appreciate your help. I'm still searching if anyone else has any tips for me! Place of birth: Bolton, VT. 1860 Census, Bolton, Chittenden County, Vermont, Page: 6; (Attached) shows the family of John and Louisa "Rombeau". The names of the children (Mary (age 16) Laura, Sarah, Harriet, Paulena, Louis,Gerar (?) and Joseph) match those of the children of John and Louise Rondo on the 1870 census in Adams, MA. If you can obtain a birth record for a Mary Rondeau or Rombeau born to John and Louisa around 1844-48 you may be able to confirm your hunch. Good luck. I have found the 1870 census for their family in Adams. I haven't found anything for them before or after 1870 other than the sons info. I suspect they are the parents of my gr-gr-grandmother Mary Melvina who was born in Vermont in Feb 1850, she married there in 1866 and moved on to Minnesota. John and Louise had several children born in Vermont. Laura 1848, Sarah 1851, Paulean/Pauline 1853, Lewis/Louis--May 1854, Jerry--March 1856, and John was born in MA in 1868. I suspect John was a grandchild. I have found a Mary Rondo who died in 1870 in Adams and I thought this might be her child. I have found info for Lewis and Jerry and possibly John from later censuses. I noticed that the name switches from Rondo to Rondeau so records may be under either name. I would really like to know who the elder John's parents might be. He was born approx. 1816 in Canada. His wife Louise was born approx. 1819 in Canada. All of the ages for the children are approximate. If there is any info on where in Vermont their children were born that would be a great help so I know where to look for Mary Melvina's birth records. This is the only John Rondo that I have found that had children in Vermont at the right time. I would appreciate any info on any member of this family. Birth, death, burial, marriage, etc. Thank You. I had not tried to look using the BOLLAND derivation. This is a big help and I bet that it's her. I see other familiar names from that boarding house list that were connected to the family in LaSalle Co. such as John McCabe and Patrick Manion. Bridget's hsb. Dennis was a brother to Patrick B. Manning (Name spelled Mannion in Ireland) and worked for John McCabe. Dennis and John were blacksmiths after moving to LaSalle Co. and Patrick was a wagon maker. Dennis went to the Civil War in place of John. John's son Joseph married Dennis and Bridget's daughter. I really appreciate all you have done! It's certainly a small world when you get doing genealogy and you find how many people have similar connections in counties such as LaSalle. It was quite a hub due to the railroads and canals and coal mines and zinc plants. Being on the Illinois river made the access from Chicago easy. There was alot of ethnic division and the town, though small, had numerous catholic churches for each ethnic group. Thank you again!!! What is the likelihood that there would be obituaries available for David and Mary Boland Heaton? I know in larger urban areas it's poor. Do you know what newspapers I should order microfilm from? Hi listers, The marriage of Albert Packard and Susan Crawford, both of Lee, was said to have occured in Canaan, NY on or abt. 15 Dec. 1877. Is there anyone who would be willing to check the microfilm of the Gleaner to see if the marriage notice appeared in the newspaper? I have been in touch with the town clerk in Canaan and informed that no records were kept at that time. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Judy, in NC

Unfortunately, no parents names are listed for Ann There is also a Peter Boland who was married in Pittsfield in 1855 but his parents were John and Mary. They came to the US about 1848 with what I believe were at least 4 kids. 1) Mary born 1831 married David Heaton lived in Pittsfield kids: Jos., David, John, and Annie J. 2) Bridget born 1836 moved to Peru, LaSalle Co., IL and married Dennis Manning in 1867, died in 1909. Kids: Mary Agnes (Mamie) Ellen/Nellie, John, Anna Virginia. 3) Patrick b 1829 married Mary, had some children in Illinois in early 1860s and moved to Fairfax, Linn Co., Iowa near Cedar Rapids by 1870. Kids: Peter, Thomas, Nellie, Frank, Joseph, Michael, Annie born between 1860-1878. 4) Michael born 1837 married Mary and lived in LaSalle Co., Illinois, Linn Co., Iowa, and in 1877 moved to Ivesdale, Champaign Co., IL where he died in 1888. kids: Margaret Emma, John, Elizabeth, Peter, James, Mary, William, Nellie, Walter, more or less I imagine all of these 4 kids spent some time in Pittsfield prior to 1867. Their birthdates vary with the census over a range of years from 1825-1840. I am working on proving a connection of these 4 kids to Thomas and Ann Boland. Family lore says that Mary Heaton was a sister to Bridget Boland Manning but my photograph collection also has photos of Patrick and Michael. My grandma who was not related to them wrote that they were cousins of Grandma Manning on them, but I am sure they are brothers to Bridget Boland Manning and to Mary Boland Heaton and that they may have lived briefly in the Pittsfield area from 1848 through 1860. If you find anything else on Bolands from Pittsfield, I would be glad to get it! No matter what, you have helped me so much now that I have lots and lots of leads to follow. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
