He was born to Jane/Jean McGavin aka Waddell or Weddell (who was Irish) and left Scotland possibly with a man named James Sullivan. She later returned to Scotland with her son Robert and I've not been able to find anything more of them from 1871. I've searched the Scottish records but found no death records for either of them. So I'm wondering if perhaps they returned to the States??? I dont have details of what ships the travelled on so if anyone could help with this too I would be very grateful. Hi I have Nash kin from North Adams in Berkshire co and Hadley in Hampshire. What names are you looking for? I have in my possession some old records from Berkshire County. First, 1884 probate court records for James E. Thompson, deceased, of Pittsfield, widow Alice Thompson. Second, 1840 guardianship records pertaining to Harry W. Thompson, deceased, and widow Lydia Button Thompson. The guardianship deals with children Sarah E. Thompson, David W. Thompson, James M. Thompson, Edward A. Thompson and Giles G. Thompson, children of Henry. I have a connection to the Thompsons of Berkshire but cannot see any connection to the above. If anyone has an interest, let me know. Ron White **************Make your summer sizzle with fast and easy recipes for the grill. (http://food.aol.com/grilling?ncid=emlcntusfood00000005)

Johnny, There is a cemetery right in center Stockbridge, an old one, originally in the Glendale section that was moved to Stockbridge and a smaller one, very old, up near Stockbridge Bowl *a lake*. If you can give me a little more detail, I can check town records for deaths and possible burial sites. N **************Make your summer sizzle with fast and easy recipes for the grill. I think that the USGenweb site for Berkshire Co, MA has some cemetery transcriptions shown. Also, I phoned the town clerk in North Adams and she generously gave me the phone number to call to talk to the woman that keeps the cemetery records. Regards, Bettye

I may be going to Stockbridge in the next couple of weeks. I would be willing to help to some degree, but you would need to furnish some information since my time is limited I will not be able to do research for you but if you have knowledge of where lists or grave yards are would be willing to check them for you. Sorry because of limited time and need to do my own research I can only assist. Janet. Your best bet is to contact the Sheffield Historical Society. They have extensive information for the town and surrounding areas.... _The Sheffield Historical Society_ (http://www.sheffieldhistory.org/) In a message dated 6/23/2009 3:02:44 A.M. Even though Samuel and Betsey lived in Sheffield, there are no grave sites for them there. They used to live in New Marlborough so I am thinking maybe they are buried there. The Sears were in Middletown (East Hampton) for years and that is also a possibility. Is there anyone who knows the cemeteries in these areas? In New Marlborough, the oldest cemeteries are: Huxley, Mill River (maybe), Old Mill River, and New Marlborough - from what I could find. **************An Excellent Credit Score is 750.
