Also, from a handwritten tree that I have, it appears that Clarissa also had a brother Alfred, Joel and several sisters (names not given). Is there any other info. about Mason that you might need? I too am stuck on info. about Francis Walker, other than his date of death, which is already on this message board. Unfortunately, Williamstown, MA town offices had a fire and records were burned. They have from 1850 on, which really doesn't help us. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I didn't know till today that Mason Walker was Clarisa Walker's brother. Clarissa (Walker) Card was the mother of Franklin Card who was my great grandfather, she's my great great grandmother. Hello, cousin. We thought that Francis Walker was the son of Joel Walker [28 Jan 1745/6-25 Aug 1822] and would have been born in Tyringham, Mass. However, we can find nothing to confirm that yet ---though it is generally believed to be true by others. Got to go. If intrested, let me know and I'll try to send you what we have....which isn't much. rb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Trying to find his parents' names. Someone told us he might be the son of Elihu, but I can't find anything to verify that. Tried the Connecticut State Library, but they couldn't find the parents for me. I know that Guilford married Nancy Case and had a number of children in Barkhamsted, Litchfield County, before moving to Ohio. Nancy died and Guilford remarried to Ann Remington Shepard. My great-great grandmother Emma Allen was the child of Guilford and Ann. If you have any information on Guilford's parents, that would be wonderful. If not, I can give you his children's names if you'd like. Thanks! Ginny Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Sorry I should have said, she was Irish, from Strabane or Tyrone. On the 1871c she is recorded as being from Paisley which is where the Weddells came from. But having trawled through records in Paisley and Glasgow I know for definate that she did go to America and have Robert there and then return to Scotland. I know that in 1877 her daughters Margaret and Mary were placed in Industrial Schools in Paisley. Industrial Schools were for children who were out of control or being neglected and they were given an education there. Mary was born 1861 and I know emigrated to Pennsylvania after marriage around 1882 and she raised a family and died there. Her sister Margaret b 1862 was in a Lunatic Assylum in 1882 but it is possible that she too emigrated to Pennsylvania but I dont have convincing evidence of this yet. I'm not 100% sure if she went to the States with James Sullivan but he is mentioned on a Poor Relief record as being her son Robert Weddells father. She had another son Robert to James Weddell who died in infancy. But its likely that her children were in the Poorhouse perhaps which enabled her to go to the States around 1867 or is it possible she had them with her I wonder? Anyway hope I havent bored you to death with all this lol Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. A lot of travelling in a short about of time with 2-3 children. The only other case I've seen close to this was a family whose father worked on the Hoosick Tunnel - came here, finished the tunnel, had a child here, and returned. I just wish I could find out what happened to her and Robert. James Weddell never married her and he went on to marry my gt gt gt grandmother. I found all sorts of info on Jeanie from the Scottish Poor Relief Records. She had a very hard life. She came to Scotland as a child with her mother. Her father died around the same time and her mother remarried. She was always poor and never seemed to have a stable place to live. But somehow she made her way to and back from America. I have a bit of a soft spot for her and so I'll just keep plodding on til I find out where she died etc. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The New England Historic Genealogical Society has put all the images of these records online prior to 1910. The record is in Volume 196, page 28. Access is on a subscription basis ($75 per year) so a link won't do you any good. I will attach the image to this post on the Rootsweb message board on Ancestry.
