You are very right that the info is NOT consistent. This is true of this family throughout my search. Of particular note is "Willie" Adams, who was my grandfather. They have the name, birth date and father incorrect. The only consistent thing is the mother is Phoebe Davis. The father they listed -- Artemus Adams -- is actually the grandfather!! I don't know where else to look for their marriage records, which are crucial to learn more about Phoebe Davis --- I have nothing on her parents and where she was born. Different records show Canada (Fr), Vermont, Massachusetts and Ohio. However, since their 3 children were born in MA, it would seem logical that they were married there. Can I access the NEHGS vitals via internet or did you go to library or courthouse? Barb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: barbyoungblood39 Surnames: ADAMS, DAVIS Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.massachusetts.counties.berkshire/5734/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for a marriage record for Horatio W. Adams and Phoebe Davis about 1880 in North Adams, Williamstown, or other nearby towns. They are in the 1880 census as residents of North Adams, both single, and living at separate rooming houses. Horatio was born 5 Sep 1853 in Ludlow, Windsor, VT, and in 1880 was learning the print trade at the Print Works in North Adams. His wife, Phoebe Davis, was born March 1861 in Canada (Fr) and was working in a cotton mill in 1880. Their first child, Fredrick, was born March 1881. I am also looking for his birth record. Their second child, Harry William Adams, was born either 27 Oct 1882 or 8 Nov 1882 in North Adams. I have a birth record from North Adams that gives his name as "Willie", born 8 Nov 1882; however, all future records of Willie show him as Harry W. Adams with birth of 27 Oct 1882. Their third child, Robert Adams, was born in Williamstown, MA, 13 Apr 1890. The family had moved to Ann Arbor, MI, by 1894, where other members of his family had located. 3. Hello, Barbara. A quick check of what is available on the Massachusetts Vital Records Project turned up the birth of an Elijah Adams in Becket, Berkshire, on 29 Mar. 1773. Using the surname index makes it fairly easy to check these. Becket has not been transcribed, but the surnames are there and the page numbers link to the images from the published records. 1. [MABERKSH] Ichabod Adams 1788 (MA) to 1853 (Ohio)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: sagieseler1 Surnames: Adams Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.massachusetts.counties.berkshire/5732/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Seeking information about the parents and possible siblings of Ichabod Adams born, 20 Jul 1788. We can find no information as to where he was born other than in Massachusetts. He is a possible son of a William Adams and a possible brother of a Samuel Adams. Ichabod married first Polly Willis. Their intention was filed in 1815 in Belchertown, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, and both are listed as of Belchertown. There is no record of their marriage in Belchertown. Polly died in Belchertown giving birth to a daughter, Polly, in 1817. Ichabod was drafted into Capt. Gilbert's Co., Massachusetts Militia, in Enfield, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts, in 1814 and he served 3 months in service during the War of 1812. Ichabod was not found on any Massachusetts census. He emigrated to Ohio probably in 1819 and he is found in Thompson, Geauga County, Ohio, in 1820 and 1830 and in Madison, Lake County, Ohio, in 1840 and 1866. There are no William Adams in Belchertown on the 1790 Fede! ral census. There is a William Adams in Belchertown 1800 and 1810. There are 2 William Adams on the 1790 census for Berkshire County -- 1 in Alford and 1 in Bethlehem. There also is a William Adams in Bethlehem, Berkshire County, Massachusetts in 1800 bit none in 1810. The town of Bethlehem apparently in now part of the town of Otis, Berkshire, Massachusetts. There are no William Adams in Berkshire in 1820 and only 1 in Hampshire -- this one is in Enfield. I could find no record of Ichabod's birth in Otis Town Records that are available online to 1850, nor any record of marriages of William, Ichabod, or Samuel. Does anyone have information about these individuals? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
