A father O. Lynch married them in the Cathlic Church. Their parents were William and Mary Kelly and Thomas and Mary McNamara, all were from Ireland, but I do not know where in Ireland/when or where they entered the US. James and Sarah had a daughter (Mary) in the town of Adams on 3 March, 1869. In 1880 they show up in the census in Earlington, KY. Both sets of parents appear to have stayed in Williamstown. There may be some confusion about the birthdate. I found this birth record in the Mass Vital records on NEGHS: Florence Marie Jorgenson was born in Somerville, Mass on Dec 23, 1902. The birth was officially recorded on Jan 2, 1903, however (note the similarity to your date). Note that your great grandmother shows up in the 1910 census living with Ida in Boston and is listed as being 7 years of age. Her father is Soren G Jorgenson and her mother is Anna L Nelson. They lived on 396 Washington St and Soren is listed as a painter, born in Norway and Anna was born in Sweden. Given that Ludwig and Ida were also from Norway/Sweden, that is probably the connection that brought them together. Where did the "Tower" surname come from? Ironically, I've done a lot of research in Norway and Sweden myself because that's my wife's heritage. I am trying to find information on my Great grandmother Florence Marie Tower ~her name at birth, born 01-02-1901,) she was a ward of the State of Mass. and in apprx. May/June 1907 was adopted by Ida C and Ludwig Moe of Mass. At the time of her adoption her name was changed to Florence Priscilla Moe. I can not find any information on Florence I began to wonder if she was in fact possibly a birth child of Florence M and Edgar Tower and had been given up either at birth or shortly after??? Does anyone have info on a possible 6th child to this family, Florence Tower would have had to become pregnant almost immediately after Ralph's birth, may have been a financial strain for the couple at the age of 20. It is just strange to me how they share the same name. If anyone has additional info that would be wonderful! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: arcwell Surnames: Catlin Richardson Classification: biography Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.massachusetts.counties.berkshire/5738/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Concerning the following listing in the United States Cemetery Project website for the New Marlborough Cemetery http://www.uscemeteryproj.com/massachusetts/berkshire/newmarlborough/newmarlborough.htm "Richardson Frances Cowles 1826 12/9/1910 Dr. M.C." There is a mistake in this listing. Cowles is her middle name, not her maiden name which is Catlin. Obviously, the transcriber would have had no way of knowing this. She was the sister of Laura Richardson, the next name in the list, and thus the daughter of Joseph Catlin and Laura (Smith) Catlin. Frances Cowles Catlin and her sister Laura Smith Catlin* were married to brothers; Frances to Moses Charles Richardson and Laura to David Richardson. Laura and David lived in Knoxville, TN, and perhaps he is buried there. After David's death, Laura eventually returned to Massachusetts. For an article about Laura and Frances see: http://www.archive.org/stream/historyproceedin03pocu#page/226/mode/2up * This is Laura Smith CATLIN; do not confuse her with her mother Laura (SMITH) Catlin. 1. Re: [MABERKSH] Hinsdale/Peru Cemeteries
    2. PepaWhite
    3. Terri, I just looked at the Epodunk site and see that all of the cemeteries are not listed. Hinsdale: Maple Street Cemetery- The main cemetery for the town located closest the town center. St. Patricks Cemetery - Catholic cemetery actually located in Dalton on the Hinsdale Dalton line. East Washington Road Cemetery - Very early and abandoned on the outskirts of town. Peru: South Road Cemetery - Near center of town South Cemetery - Skyline Trail/Middlefield Road North Cemetery - Pierce Road A James Hosmer did an extensive recording of the Cemeteries in Hinsdale but it was never completed. There was also a project in the 80's that recorded the interments of Berkshire County and published but I do not recall the Title. The Berkshire Athenaeum should have a copy. Any records before 1804 are listed as Partridgefield. Both Hinsdale and Peru were one township until then. If you are trying to locate people who lived west of where the railroad tracks and Plunkett street cross, then that would be Dalton from 1784 to 1804. Before that, Ashuelot Equivalent. There that should make things clear. Tee Hee These are all things that made my research difficult to track until I had the info. I hope this helps Peter White In a message dated 10/21/09 21:49:07 Eastern Daylight Time, angelostella17@yahoo.com writes: Greetings Everyone, Does anyone know of a good resource to find out the names of all the known cemeteries in the Hinsdale and Peru area? 3. There is a list somewhere, but I've lost it. However, you can try the USGS Geographic Names Information System. http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic/. You can't specify a particular town, but it can be limited to state and county. There are 74 cemeteries, probably doesn't include very small family plots, in Berkshire County. There is no need to even put a "feature name" in. It should be noted that "map" is not a great help. This means the feature appears on a 7.5 minute map that is named for some major feature on that map. Nevertheless, I've found the search tool to be very handy. It is quite powerful and requires some practice to really get used to it. It even links to some of the mapping software, like GoogleEarth.
