    1. BRIZZEE/BRESEE/BURZEE 1770-1820
    2. phyllis kinzie
    3. I am trying to locate information on the BRIZZEE/BRESEE/BURZEE name, in particular for any Henry. The first Bresees went to the Egremont/West Stockbridge area as a result of the rent wars with Livingston Manor. Gideon Bostwick's records have a number of them up to 1795. I am trying to fill in the gaps especially for a Henry born about 1799. My other problem is that for Bostwick's death notice of 1785 for a Hendricus Burzee, several researchers are unable to agree if that is the infant who had been baptized that day, his father, or his father's uncle (married to an Elizabeth Schertz from Hillsdale). Are there any West Stockbridge cemetery lists available for that time frame? We have not been able to trace any of the children of Hendrick and Elizabeth Schertz Bresee, but have done quite well with Christopher and Agnetje's children. Any hints of where to look for the missing family members would be appreciated. Phyllis

    3. Using the index to Death Notices from The Berkshire Courier, 1834-90, I have identified four entries of interest. Can anyone tell me how I can access the actual notices? Does the Berkshire Athenaeum have copies? I live in Arizona, so I'm not able to visit the library. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might offer. Sharon Flanagan-Hyde fhyde@home.com

    3. Margaret is right, The Berkshire Family History Association has been helpful to folks over the years. Sometimes it takes a while for them to respond, but that is usually because they have quite a backlog of research requests. But eventually they will get to you. 3. Having seen the recent questions about the lack of response from the Pittsfield Library I thought it might be time to send on these two URL's. Perhaps most of you have already tried it but I did find some new information (new to me, that is) on the Pittsfield Library site. Go to the left side of the page and click on Reference. I have never done this but who knows? The second site, for the Berkshire Family History Assoc. is my all time favorite! The people there are tremendously helpful and they work in close contact with the Athenaeum at the Library. Hope it will help someone. 3. I too have not been able to get a response from the Pittsfield Library and at this point they're the only organization that can help. If the same or another volunteer could look something up for me, I'd be very happy. Below is what I sent them: I am looking for census record for someone I believe to be my 3x g-grandfather Orrin Brigg(s) enumerated in Lenox in 1830 -- and also his birth record in 1797. Another researcher on this list told me of an Orrin Briggs, whose uncle is Allen Briggs, who married Nancy Brown (born 1761) 29 Nov 1778 in Cheshire MA. I am willing to pay for research time, copies and postage. Thanks! Lisa LM Cambridge, England
