The only directory the Dalton library (closest one to Windsor) has is for the 1880s. If you still need a lookup I'll check the directories at the Pittsfield Athenaeum next week. I recall someone mentioning an 1850 and an 1870 Pittsfield city directory - could anyone do a lookup for me in any directory in that general time frame? I am looking for any listings of the names FALLON or LALLY (FALLON is alternatively spelled FOLLON, FOLLAND, etc.) in any directories in the 1850 to 1870 period. I am especially looking for William Cunningham and Bridget Fallon in 1870 - they got married 25 July 1870, so they are probably listed separately if the directory was compiled before their marriage. Many thanks!! Bill Coley
Hi Oz, Oh lucky you are-----going to Adams I mean. If you haven't been there yet, I can attest that Berkshire County is a most beautiful place! Here is a list of all Town Clerks in MA and it does include Adams. Margaret, also in NV but born Pittsfield :) http://www.rootsweb.com/~mabersh/county.htm
According to the 1900 census my ggf Christian Schroder and wife Wilhemina Van De Myer lived on Friend St in Adams Ma with their dau Sophia (born April 1879) and son August (born 1884 my grandfather). Their son Christian (born Sep 1870 Ma) lived on Beech St in Adams, with his wife Mary Grant (born Oct 1866 Ma) and children Christian (born Jul 1892) Irene (born Feb 1897) Lillian (born Mar 1900) and Cortland (born 1903). I assume that all their children were born in Adams but I will not be able to confirm this until I visit Adams this fall. Does City of Adams have a city hall and records ? Does anyone know ? Another daughter Sena married a John Kempf and lived in Lansboro. They had two children John and Louise. The son John married Alice Brown and as near as can figure they lived in Pittsfield. John was born Feb 1 1891 and past away Nov 1971 at Pittsfield. Any info as to any living relatives would be appreciated. Oz in Nevada.

Looking at the Berkshire/Pittsfield 1850 census today I ran across the "Young women's Institution" listed in Pittsfield. Can anyone tell me what function it performed. and were there other institutions in the area/ Thanks, Bob.. Bob Martin martinrf@rcn.com
Again I would like to thank all who replied to my Cannon querry from Pittsfield ca 1850. Unfortunately I revieved a corrupted attachment and in my excitment, I foolishly opened it. No permanent damage but I had to delete all of my unopened e-mails. Do not open any attachments sent by me, or anyone else on this list. If anyone has any additionial information regarding Patrick and Mary Cannon, please reply to me at this list.
Hello List, I was hoping someone would have access to the Windsor Directory for the years 1853-4 and 5. I am searching for the following family who arrived in US in 1852. American names - WHITE - Falden(Fauldine) Barbara with 2 sons: Falden and Adam Their German name was WEISS - Valentin and Anna Barbara (boys names same as above) They may have had two of Mr. White's sisters with them who retained the German name of WEISS until they married. Their names were Margaretha and Catharina ( Margaret and Catherine ) I appreciate any help given to me. Thank you. Piketre@aol.com
What type of pictures were your trying to send me in a zip file Kathleen? about the museum?
Hi Ed, Yes I sent for a copy of that page from the Tenney Family Genealogy. It said only Hiram W. Bates married to somebody I have not heard of. There were several Hiram Bates during that time period and of similar location. Maybe that's him but I don't know for sure yet. I've also seen quite a few Hiram Bates on the Civil War Pensioners list, but the dates don't really match up. Thank you Good Luck in your search also Kathy
Hello Listers, I guess I was making things up in my head today! In response to several inquiry's, what I wrongly wrote was Berkshire Genalogy Society. It is in fact Berskhire Family History Association. e-mail bfha@berkshire.net Web Site http://www.berkshire.net/~bfha/index.htm Also the individual fee is $12.00 family $14.00 this information was sent to me via the Local History & Genealogy Dept. of The Berkshire Athenaeum 1 Wendell Avenue, Pittsfield, Mass 01201 413-499-9486
Hi Nancy, I tried to e-mail you directly but it got kicked back twice. So I am hoping you see this. This microfilm of the church records will not arrive for about two weeks. If I don't find anything there I thought I would write to the list of churches that you sent me. also I joined the Berkshire Genealogy Society. The membership was $14.00 single. I will get their newsletter plus 2 hours of research by a volunteer. I probably won't hear anything for at least 2 months because of the large number of requests they receive. I thought that was a really good deal. After that I think I would like to see if there were any directories for Dalton in the 1820's. and then check into land & probates. I appreciate your help and asking about Hiram. Kathy
I too am very much interested in the 1870 Pittsfield Directory to see if a Martin McMahon is listed. My great-grandfather was born in Ireland in 1848 and came to Pittsfield and worked in one of the woolen mills there. My grandfather Owen McMahon was born in Pittsfield approximately 1873. Any help would be appreciated as I live in California and hard to get to these places right now and hitting brick walls. Does anyone know if Massachusetts vital records would have birth certificates available for 1873 or were they kept during this time. Thank you Katherine Bailey (McMahon, McDonald, Pine or Pyne, Morris)
I am not able to locate the 1850 (or an 1855 if available) census for Berkshire County, MA. If anyone has easy access to one and would be able to look up someone for me I would be very grateful. I am looking for census records of my GGGrandmother Julia Ann Kilroy(Nee Fahey) She was born in March 1830 in Ireland and was married to a James Kilroy(Conroy??) by 1849 The Connecticut Census of 1860, and some other Birth records, indicated they had a child Mary Ann?? born in Massachusetts in 1849. I "think" she was born in Berkshire county, possibly Pittsfield, but I would love some proof. Any help would be most appreciated! Sincerely, Bob Martin Bob Martin martinrf@rcn.com
