I have virus protection software, but recently, I avoided a virus not because of the software but because of a warning from email. My virus protection software was not yet "ready" to detect the new virus. I wish we would not be so harsh with apparently well intended people who issue virus warnings. WE ALL HAVE DELETE KEYS, AND ONE KEY STROKE CAN ELIMINATE ANY MESSAGE WE DO NOT WANT TO READ. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ph1003309@onemain.com" <Travels@jps.net> To: <MABERKSH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2002 12:21 PM Subject: Re: Important Virus warning > May we PLEASE depend on the list owner or our own virus checking > programs to > fight against virus? The message sent 1/16 at 11:13:03 PM by cookis@earthlink.net seems to contain a virus. I have not opened the attachment, but two warning signs are an "underscore character - "_") at the beginning of the "return address" and the double extension of the attachment - "SEARCHURL.MP3.pif". These two factors are VERY STRONG indications of an infected attachment. May we PLEASE depend on the list owner or our own virus checking programs to fight against virus? If alarms are sounded by Paul Revere wannabes, anytime there is a socalled "VERY STRONG" indication that a virus might be present, the list would never be able to conduct business for all of the virus warnings. Virus checkers protect people's computers, not warnings. I wish people would warn their neighbors and coworkers about hepititis, influenza HIV and the common cold, which virus actually kill people.... every day. Many thanks to Penny, answered my request for info from "Hancock Through the Years" by Nellie L. Cameron! From that book a gained a tidbit of information. Rebecca WHEELER m Asa DOUGLASS in 1737; they lived and raised a large family in Hancock, MA. Asa was born in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1715. I find that interesting because my ancestor was also born in Fairfield, CT and eventually purchased property in Hancock in 1787. I find WHEELER's all along Jehiel's migratory route and in fact he married (second marriage) Elizabeth WHEELER. Question, was there a WHEELER family in or around Hancock during those years and does anyone know who Elizabeth's parents or siblings were? I am always happy to share info and sources. Thank You, Margaret
Will anyone connected with the MALNATI family of Richmond please contact me off the list. I have someone who is looking for information. Thank you - Edie in Maine

Dear List, I am looking for information about the burial place of Francis Denison FARLEY. I have information that his wife Rhoda Ann (ROOD) FARLEY was buried in Lenox, 1864, but I have no information about this grgrgrandfather except that he was born 17 June (or Jan.) 1809, and the following from Bond, Henry. Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, etc., Page 181. "Francis Dennison, b. Jan. 7, 1809, Register of Deeds at Lenox, Mass. " He was on the 1850 Census, with wife Rhoda, shortly before the birth of his first child, John Coolidge Farley. After that, I can find no trace of him. He had only one other known child, a daughter Ann Lawrence Farley, born 29 September 1856. I have no information about daughter Ann, and would like to know what happened to her. John Coolidge Farley married in Calvary Baptist Church, Davenport, Scott, Iowa, 26 April, 1881, and I know where he was after that. This is tricky because I also know that of the nine (9) descendants in my generation, I am the only one looking for him! Any suggestions/information about this family would be appreciated. Some time ago I was told about a book entitled "Hancock Through The Years" (I think<G>). At that time I wasn't very interested but now, as with most things research wise, I realize I should have saved the information. Does anyone know of this book? If so I would really appreciate the author's name (it was woman I believe), pub date etc. I would like very much to see if I can get it via an inter-library loan. TIA Margaret in NV

Carl Thank you for the information. Yes it would have been good if they had more information on the 1790 census, but for the first one for the country I guess that we are lucky to have this much. The government should have thought ahead on this one? But is was a good start to expand on in later censuses. Schweitzer says that Savoy was established in 1797 from a plantation called Number Six. Windsor was established in 1771 as the Town of Gageborough, from a plantation called Number Four, name changed in 1778 to Windsor. I found a possible ancestor, Jeremiah Olmsted, in West Stockbridge. Unfortunately there were at least two , maybe three, with that name, and it is hard to tell which is which, having no ages. A great job, Ray. By the map published with the census it looks like Savoy was part of Windsor at the time. I really do not know when it became a town of it's own. Mt. Washington is a seperate town than Washington, Mt. Washington is in the South West corner of Berkshire County. Borders on CT, NY, Shffield and Egermont. For a map of the current towns in Berkshire County just go to: http://www.berkshireweb.com/themap/index.html I hope to have Washington finished by the end of the year (Hope to have all of Berkshire County finished). By the map thet the Census burel published in 1908 with the census it looks like the county line between Berkshire County and Franklin County was not established, all others were on the map but not this one? I am not sure which current towns make up Partridgefield, looks like it may be Hinsdale and Peru? Cheers Ray "Helen L. Parent" wrote: > > Ray > > Is it Mt Washington or Washington, MA?
