    3. Thanks, John, for the clarification! A long time ago, I saw a diagram - I think it was diamond-shaped - that showed these relationships. I've tried to reproduce it from memory, but Duh! Have you ever heard of this? Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Edie in Maine

    1. Amos King Center Cemetery New Marlborough MA
    2. Daniel David Lewis Frommherz
    3. I am new to this list as of today. However I have been working on a possible link for my family to New Marlborough, Berkshire County, MA as a cemetery there has just shown up thus possibly clearing up one of my brick walls. In 1790 the US Census shows that my fourth great grandfather and his wife Amos Nahum and Hopestill (Haskins/Hoskins) King were or could have been due to similar names residing in New Marlborough. My previous records only showed that they left New Salem, Franklin County, MA in 1785 with two small sons Nahum Amos born 25 July 1783 and William born 1785. The next time that they show up is in the US Census for 1800 in Columbia County, Lebanon Springs Valley, New York where he is listed as a Revolutionary War Veteran with a pension. The pension is a separate issue with separate source material that was used by the DAR to verify his status as a War Veteran. I found a letter from one of their sons Luther written to a brother in Ohio saying that "father intended to cross the great lake to Hillsdale County, Michigan but mother disapproved of the idea. Therefore father then marked his land for a donation land claim by marking trees with an ax at Hastings". I always asked myself if they had come directly to Hastings from New Salem or if they had been in other places considering the wildness of the area. Now I find that there is mention in the Daughters of the American Revolution of the gravesite for Amos King in New Marlborough found in 1956. I am beginning to think that his body might have been returned to be buried next to or near his wife's grave that is assuming neither were buried in New York. They have not been found in New York Bye the Bye. I don't have a death date for Hopestill.. Amos died in Columbia County, New York in 1839. All his children had removed previously with the exception of Luther who then moved on to Michigan as previously planned. The DAR say that he is buried in the Center Cemetery in New Marlborough. Is anyone familiar enough with the area to help me locate the grave and possible tell me if Hopestill was returned to be buried there too. What about any of the children? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. -- Daniel David Lewis Frommherz Come visit my web site www.McKenzieValleyMarket.com please write and tell me what you think of it. 3. The 1790 Census for Berkshire and Hampshire COunties are now online in the searchable databases at roorsweb. To search them just use this link for now. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyne/berkshire_ma/berkshire_search.htm Please note that this is a tempeory search page, I have to figure out how to make a seperate one for each county or just have this one at my New England Genealogy site. The town of Northampton is not included as the listing was lost prior to the census being published in 1908. If you view the details of a record just ignore the value of $68 at the bottom, that indentifies me. At the end of each name listed is a link for PostEms. If you have any additional information on any family you can post it there, that would include links to a web site that you have about the family. Or questions that you have about them, your email address will go on as a mailto link if you leave it. To search by town use the links at the bottom of the page. 1. PIKE, Joseph 1760-1828, Hardwick & Williamstown, MA>NY

    3. My ggg grandfather Joseph Pike, abt 1759/60 to 1828 enlisted in the Revolutionary War from Hardwick, Worcester, MA at about age 15. After searching for a number of years, I still can not determine his parents. One wonders where a 15 year old young man living in Hardwick, MA came from. There were other Pikes in Hardwick, MA at the same time, but I cannot make connections. One was a Timothy PIKE who eventually returned to the Charlestown, MA area after the War. The father of the other family was Elisha PIKE with sons Samuel and Elisha, but Elisha supposedly died in 1749 and my Joseph was born abt 1759/60. However, my Joseph named sons Joseph Elisha and Samuel. Another interesting fact ...there was a Samuel Pike living in Williamstown, MA abt 1805 who was a member of the same Congregational Church and who may have been living with the Joseph Pike family in the1800 or 1810 census. How was he related to Joseph. This Joseph PIKE married Rebecca HAWKINS, d. of Robert HAWKINS and Rachel BUCK of Williamstown, MA about 1790. About 1813 members of his family removed to Colesville, Broome Co., NY. I am hoping to find someone who has information on any of the Hardwick, MA Pike families and am willing to share information I have gathered to date. Margaret Scheffler
