It didn't separate from Adams until about 25 years later. The material for which you're looking therefore would have appeared in the Adams "Freeman," of which the Adams Library on Park St. has extensive back files

Nathaniel Kent was probably born in CT abot 1751. He married first Hannah Gregory (B. abt. 1857 ch of SamuelGregory) Children were Kiler b. abt 1788, Molly or Mary b. 1783, Abigail b. 1882, and probably others. Hannah Gregory Kent died 13 July 1800. Nathaniel then married Hannah Dorwin widow of Lanesforough in March of 1801. I believe that Nathaniel was in the Revolutionary War ( Ma. Soldiers and Sailors) Would like to put him on Patriots ListDAR, but need to find a death date and place. From checking census--he likely died between 1810-1820 and likely bured in New Ashford--but can't find any proof. Any information would be helpful--both a marriage record for ist wife and adeath date. Mary A. Foster--

I am searching for the parents of Rachel Swift, 1786-1837. She married Warren Coolidge in Frankfort New York ca. 1803. Family story says that her father's farm straddled the Vermont - Mass border. I only found one Swift in the 1790 census whose location that would possibly fit that description. Seth SWIFT, Williamstown, Berkshire County. Does anyone know if there are plat maps available from this time period that would show the boundaries of the properties? Is anyone else researching SWIFT? David Schoenberger North Carolina
Charlotte Pease Davis does not include a "South Adams" in her Directory of Massachusetts place names. North Adams was incorporated in 1878, formerly being the north part of Adams. My guess is your g-g-grandmother is refering to the part of town which today remains as Adams Edwin W. The abbreviations are usually defined in the pages of the directory preceding the directory entries. Certain abbreviations "usually" mean: Bd, bds = "boards" R = resides and in some, rents" Wk = works Col = colored When copying entries from directories I usually copy the page defining the abbreviations.
