He as quite a collection. A bit pricey and it is not easy finding out which libraries have them, but I will confess that I do personally own the complete sets for Monterey, Mount Washington, Sandisfield and Sheffield. I will be glad to do a lookup as I am going through them for my own research, but they are not well organized and to do individual lookups would be very time consuming. My Berkshire surnames are Campbell, Sears, Lamson, Phelps, Austin, Newman, Newton and Spurr.

One of my relatives, Enos D. Kingsley, was married to a Mary Mann, who was born in Chester, MA in 1796, daughter of Nathan and Eunice Johnson Mann. I believe Nathan Mann was also born in Chester. I believe this family moved from the Chester, MA area to Mentor, Lake, OH in the 1810s. I think there were Manns in Becket as well, but this is from memory...I have not checked.

Joe, retired as a captain, Mert and Mark both retired as Lieutenants and John, the one who was started the museum and tried to keep it open. John retired as a private. All are still alive. My uncle Joe is the oldest he's 80 or 81ish. All of my uncles are still in good health and have great memories and could probably give you all types of information. I don't want to post phone numbers here but all are listed in the Pittsfield phone book. Peter and Danny, both sons of Joe are still on the dept. Danny is a lieutenant and Pete is still a private I believe. My brother Denny Layden retired recently as a private. You can email me directly at [email protected] if you'd like and I can help you make connections as well.

If you are interested in following up further I can give you the contact information for my uncle. He was the one who started the museum and has a ton of history of firefighting particularly in Berkshire County. He is a retired Pittsfield firefighter himself along with four of his six brothers. My brother is now a retired firefighter and I still have two cousins who are Pittsfield firefighters. You can email me directly at [email protected] and I'll be happy to give you my uncle's contact information. Jean
