I just checked Ida's death record on October 5. It does not list parents, either, but says that she was from Germany. I'd tend to believe Switzerland since Ida reported that herself. Hi. Saw your request. If you know where the marriage occurred, the town or city, you can write to that town or city and they will provide you with a copy. There is a charge, you may have to call to find out charge. ----- Original Message ----- From: "S Clevenger" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 15, 2007 7:12 PM Subject: [MABERKSH] Marriage Record > How does one get a copy of a record of a marriage that happened on 6 Sep > 1862? Max, I am hoping you can help me. I have been searching for a marriage reccord: The problem is there is conflicting information as to who the groom is. I have a copy of a record, not the original but a hand written copy from the Holbrook Collection from the original Massachuetts town vital records of Sheffield, Berkshire MA records. Ingersole, Noamie dau. of Daniel and wife Mary born March 15, 1756 Francis son " Feb 23, 1758 Rebecca dau " Mar 28, 1760 David son " Jan 13, 1762 Artimedorias son " Apr 31, 1764 (Apr 21, 1764) There is a number 66 out to the left side of this documentation. The numbering is not in sequence so I do not have any idea what the numbering signifies. What I am trying to prove is the Daniel Ingersole(Ingersoll, Ingersol) married Mary Drake. There is information in the Avery book that it was Francis Ingersoll who married Mary Drake. I guess that it could be Francis Daniel Ingersole or Daniel Francis Ingersole. I am hoping that the marriage date of this couple is listed and that the real father of Artimedorias be identified. Thank you in advance for offering to help people. It says 'Page cannot be found'....guess I'll have to try something else...if there is anything else to try. I've not been in the history room as I don't live in MA...I live in Illinois. (grin)... Or did you mean 'virtually'? I'm having major problems with my brain for the past few days, I forgot to go to work on Friday. I've been on the job over 20yrs...so I guess that says a lot about how dumb I've gotten lately. I seriously doubt they would do any loan to an Illinois library. Even within my state/county they don't do this. The difficult thing about researching early Clarksburg is the town records were destroyed by fire...in mid 1800s as I recall. I honestly think the only way I will ever find these gals is if someone has bible records or if there are funeral records stored somewhere....I don't know for certain where they died. I'm guessing Sarah (Aldrich) Pratt died in MA, her youngest child, my 2nd great grandfather, John Aldrich Pratt, was b. in Clarksburg in 1816. I think Lydia may have died in Stamford, VT where the family was living before they came to IL in 1854. Lydia (Aldrich) Pratt is NOT buried with Ebenezer here in IL. I do know Sarah/Salley was b. in MA...this was mentioned in the Portrait and Bio. Album of Lake Co., IL. Also stated was that she could trace her family to England. Her oldest daughter's death date and burial can't be found either, although Prudence's husband, Eseck HARRIS is buried in Stamford, VT. How can people just seem to appear and then disappear? I have a few 'property sales'(?) documents for MA/VT and a Stamford tax record...no one knows what these are either. My family ran what was called 'The Pratt House'....a hotel I guess...not sure. I have a photo of it taken by a distant relative in the 1960s. A number of years ago I asked the folks at the Bennington Museum Library about this place....they couldn't find anything nor anything about these Aldrich gal's families. Oh well....everyone needs to have a brick wall don't they? (grin) Priscilla Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You don't need a password just for a search, only to reserve a book. Have you ever been in the history room? There are hundreds of books and a vault also. Try various search terms. I don't know if you try local history it will bring up every or not. Probably not. I don't recall the code for the vault. If I can find out, I'll let you know. I know next to nothing about Clarksburg and would like to research it myself ( if only there were time) to find Corrine Bourdon and an Appleton family. In my opinion, I think they don't want to to take the time to go through what probably amounts to many boxes of possibly musty smelling records. If one thinks about it, they have no reason to do so. It's been known for YEARS that the local funeral home where I grew up (Lake Co., IL) has boxes of such records. To the best of my knowledge they're still there, untouched, for upwards of 150 years or more! There were burials in this particular cemetery with no headstones and therefore were NOT included in the inscriptions done for that cemetery. I find this sad and frustrating. I wish genealogical societies could/would make an attempt to contact these funeral homes and get permission to go through old burial records. I'm still looking for my Aldrich gals. Sarah/Salley Aldredg/Aldrich, who died ae 32 in 1818 & Lydia Aldrich both married my 3rd great grandfather, Ebenezer Pratt...the only records I found were of their marriages. All three lived in Clarksburg, Ma at the time of their marriages. If it weren't for those marriage records I'd have nothing to say they ever existed! One more thing....the date for the split was Apr. 16th 1878 when part of Adams became North Adams. Priscilla Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
