HOWLAND b. abt. 1857 in Dennis, MA 2. *Erial M. HOWLAND Jr. b. May 8 1860 (?) in Dennis, MA, d. between 1938-1941; m. 1886 in Harwich, MA to Florence ROGERS b. abt. 1863 in Chatham, MA; d. between 1948-1951 in Keene, Cheshire, NH Erial Jr. & Florence had 5 Children: 1. Lillian F. (HOWLAND) (VERRY) HODGE b. Oct. 8 1891 in Westmoreland, NH d. abt. 1985 in Keene, NH (m. 1st unknown VERRY; m. 2nd Winfred C. HODGE b. abt. 1865 poss. in Fitzwilliam, NH, d. before 1930) 2. Ida Mae (or May) (HOWLAND) (MILLER) TROMBLEY [TROMBLY, TREMBLEY, TREMBLAY, etc.] b. abt. 1894 in Westmoreland, NH (m. 1st- William Miller; m. 2nd-Louis G. TROMBLEY of Marlborough, NH) 3. Daniel Webster (sp. "Websester" on WWI draft card) HOWLAND b. Apr. 19 1899 in Chesterfield, NH (m. Abigail ____ in Keene, NH) 5. Ellen M. (Maria?) HOWLAND b. abt. 1903 in Chesterfield, NH Some unconfirmed info: -Erial Sr. possible son of Elkanah HOWLAND & Peninah CHASE of Dennis, MA (the most likely Elkanah Howland is listed as a "convict" on 1860 South Dennis, MA census; Peninah listed as "mother of the above" just below Erial's name in the Alms House in 1880 Dennis census.) There are also some unconfirmed LDS records supporting this lineage. -Erial middle initial possibly stands for "Man" -Florence (ROGERS) HOWLAND may have been a Native American from a Cape Cod tribe or sub-tribe - so far seems likely as she and her family are proving very difficult to locate with any certainty. There is even a rumor that Erial "stole" her off of a "reservation." We have quite a bit of information/evidence for these individuals, but would like more. Especially descendants of any of the above who might have stories/documents/photos, as well as anyone with firm evidence linking Erial Sr. with parents/lineage. *Notes: Both Erial's names are often misspelled in census', directories & other records. Re: Ensial, Emiel, Emuel, Urial, Ariel, etc. Also, it seems pretty clear that Erial Sr. spent most of his life in the Dennis, South Dennis and Dennisport Alms Houses.
